Start Date: 05.06.2009
Retrace the steps of the Romans and witness their great feat of engineering by trekking along the central section of ancient Hadrian’s Wall in Northumbria. Originally running from coast to coast and spanning 72 miles, we are left today with only sections of this famous landmark, which cuts through Northumberland National Park.
The weekend's Itinerary:
Starting at Lanercost Priory, we trek 41km (25 miles) over two days, alongside the only remaining sections of the wall, to Broccolitia Roman Fort. Dotted with ancient monuments and fabulous views of Hadrian’s Wall itself, other highlights of our trek are the stunning scenery and sense of achievement after a long, challenging weekend.
